Why should you choose Positive Challenges?
Many of the adolescents we service are struggling academically and do not have a strong support system. Positive Challenges was incorporated to empower those adolescents by addressing issues related to mental health and substance abuse. The goal is to assist them in strengthening coping skills and encouraging them to make sound decisions so that they can become contributing members of society. Positive Challenges serves to address self esteem issues and provide the adolescents with the resources need to thrive educationally, socially and vocationally. The organization provides the following services that will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the client's overall mental functioning. The organization provides:
I. A comprehensive mental health assessment and evaluation. This evaluation serves to give the client a clear picture as to the obstacles that interfere with their mental health functioning. The assessment will give the therapist and the client a roadmap that is designed to identify treatment goals and objectives.
II. Individual, Group and Family Counseling. The therapist and the client work together to identify the best treatment modality and course of treatment that will be beneficial to the client. The client will have the opportunity to work one on one with a therapist or to have the experience of working with peers in a group setting that will help foster cohesiveness and a sense of togetherness. Family Counseling is also an integral part of treatment. The therapist will work with the family in addressing family communication issues through family counseling services.
III. Positive Challenges believes that to be effective in treating adolescents, an organization must be flexible in its approach. We provide mental health counseling services in homes, schools and community settings. Our referrals come from treatment foster care agencies, Baltimore city and Baltimore county middle and high schools and other community centers in the surrounding areas.
